Buon Ma Thuot or Ban Me Thuot is located deep in the Central Highlands, about 360 km from Sai Gon. Buon Ma Thuot by far is relatively off the beaten track. But the area is certainly worth the trip.
Buon Ma Thuot offers the travelers the fresh nature beauty characterized by temperate climate, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and national parks. Buon Ma Thuot is home where a number of ethnic minorities of which the century-old traditions are well kept. Traveling in this area the visitor should not miss a memorable night sharing the traditional dance with a local ethnic group by the fire.
You can have a trekking trip through the ethnic villages which are surrounded by peaceful and fresh nature. You can also visit Ban Don Village where wild elephants are still being domesticated and enjoy an adventure with an elephant ride through the green forest.
Buon Ma Thuot is where you can find the best coffee in Vietnam. You may want to enhance your experience of this coffee town with some peaceful moments at a local garden cafe.
Day 01: Sai Gon - Buon Ma Thuot – Lak lake (L,D)
Depart for Buon Ma Thuot airport. Guide and driver pick you up at airport (10km away from Buon Ma Thuot capital). Drive to Lak Lake (56km), on the way drop by coffee plantations and pepper gardens for rest under luxuriant trees and fresh air. If the group is over 20 people, we will book the Gong music dancing show and you can taste local rice wine "ruou can" and you will truly feel the flavor of Central Highlands (extra cost, 3$/pax). Dinner & overnight at Lak Resort.
Day 02: Lak lake – Buon Ma Thuot (B, L, D)
In the morning, travel like a local with elephant ride (excluded) and dugout boat trip across the Lak Lake (excluded). We then walk around Jun and Le villages of M’Nông hilltribe.
Drive to Draysap and you will experience the grandeur of the Central Highlands with its impressive waterfalls, Draysap and Dray Nur, and interesting legends. Drive back to Buon Ma Thuot for overnight.
Day 03: Buon Ma Thuot visit – Departure (B,L)
Drive up to a hill top to visit Bao Dai summer residence, a historical relic of the former Emperor Bao Dai.
From here, you can enjoy panoramic view of lake, the town and fishing village. Continue driving to explore Yang Lah village of the M’Nong hilltribe in Daklieng and Dalk Phoi streams where you can enjoy a dip in the fresh and cool water. We then visit a village of Ede hilltribe, the Ako Dhong village with 20 long houses on stilts, typical housing architecture in Central Highlands.
Tour ends at Khai Doan pagoda which features a unique a combination of the Central Highland long house and Hue Royal palace in architecture. Take time to relax then transfer to the airport for departure.
